The fee hike of $2,500, or 32%, will come in two steps by next fall. That would bring the basic UC education fees to about $10,300, plus about another $1,000 for campus-based charges, for a total that would be about triple the UC cost a decade ago. Room, board and books can add another $16,000.

my state has the lowest tuition of any state and since im super smart i actually was paid to go to college
take that homo
Ah, it's not that bad. We didn't get that fucked by the recession as you guys, so that accounts for something, I suppose.
But U of T just implemented a flat rate tuition fee for people taking 3.0 courses and over. 5.0 is 100% course load, and for the real brainers, you can opt to take up to 6.0 courses. Which means if you take less than 5.0 but more than 3.0, you are losing out on money. The only way to benefit is to take 6.0 courses, which is asking for death. It screws over those students who take 3.0 and try to juggle a job with many hours in order to keep up with cost of education, living, etc.
I guess school in the states is not really subsidized even at the public level, which explains that sort of tuition at UC. Students here would be rampaging campus and flipping cars if tuition alone was at least $10,000.
