The CW Outsourcing Experiment Is Over
This season, struggling network The CW came up with a grand plan to sell its Sunday night lineup to someone else to program. Media Rights Capital was the highest (or perhaps only) bidder, and they filled The CW’s Sundays with shows like In Harm’s Way, Easy Money, and Valentine, which didn’t do any better in the ratings than The CW’s Sunday night programming did—in fact, they did much worse. Yesterday, The CW sent letters to affiliates saying they were terminating their relationship with MRC effective immediately. Sunday nights will now be filled with reruns of current CW programming, old episodes of Jericho, and movies. At least one MRC/CW show might yet survive—Surviving Suburbia, starring Bob Saget, was supposed to premiere in the spring.
