  • SNES Secret of Mana

Today we have one of my favorite games, Secret of Mana. It's similar to the Zelda games, but it has it's own unique style so it doesn't feel like a rip off. It's unfortunate that more of these action RPGs weren't released for the SNES, they're usually great.

You play as some guy whose goal is to stop the evil fortress of doom from destroying the world. Typical stuff, but it's a fun ass game. There are tons of different enemies to fight and spells to use. It's a fairly challenging game until you get some decent spells, then you can just spam the spells and nothing will ever touch you. Or you could actually play the game the way it's meant to be played and not be a spell spamming homotron.

Why this game is awesome: 1. You can choose between 8 different weapons, all of which can be powered up multiple times. 2: You have 3 characters, and all of them can be controlled by you and your friends/family/hookers you paid to play SNES with. 3. You can kill fucking Santa Claus at one point.

The graphics are great, compare this to anything else in 1993 and you'll be like "wow that's awesome". The music is great too, each location has its own theme and they all fit really well. The control is good, though there are some rare glitches that can help or hurt you. The only thing I don't like about it is the fucking tiger you fight at the beginning, that cocksucker is almost impossible.

Overall: 9.5/10 - Quit reading this and go play it.

HE LISTENS TO THE FUCKING SMITHS
    HE'S GOT A MUSTACHE
    HE WEARS A TRENCHCOAT
    HE'S GOT A MUSTACHE
    HE WEARS BLACK TIGHTS
    HE WRITES POETRY
    HE WEARS BLACK LIPSTICK
    UNDER HIS MUSTACHE

    HE'S GOT A ROLLERCOASTER HAIRCUT
    HE DYES IT JET BLACK
BUT HIS HAIR IS REALLY BROWN
    JUST LIKE HIS MUSTACHE
HE WANTS TO BE ROBERT SMITH
    BUT WITH A MUSTACHE
    HE'S A FUCKING ART FAG
    HE'S GOT A MUSTACHE

How does this compare to Chrono Trigger?

What we are is the sum of a thousand lies
What we know is almost nothing at all
But we are what we are 'til the day we die
Or 'til we don't have the strength to go on

      Re: Secret of Mana

I like both games equally, they're different in a lot of ways but they have a lot of similarities as well. SoM is more of an action RPG, whereas Chrono Trigger is basically a traditional RPG. Secret of Mana doesn't have a very deep story, but it's a really fun game. Plus the graphics and music are very similar in both games. I would say Secret of Mana is like Chrono Trigger and A Link to the Past combined.

I've never played SoM but I played Legend of Mana and that game was amazing.
